Liberty Bank and Educare Georgia summarize the results of one year of cooperation

On December 27, representatives of Liberty Bank and Educare Georgia summed up the results of a one-year partnership. Liberty Bank joined Educare Georgia in 2017 and assisted the organization in translating the Khan Academy into Georgian and promoting the platform.

Khan Academy is one of the leading free educational platforms in the world, offering video tutorials and hands-on exercises on a variety of topics. Educare Georgia provides translation of the platform into Georgian, which allows Georgian students and teachers to get the information they want without a foreign language barrier. Video lessons are divided into school classes as well as topics and subjects. The platform allows teachers to monitor pupil progress and pay more attention to issues in which pupils need more help.

In 2017, with the help of Educare Georgia, more than 2,000 math video lessons were created in Georgian. In the same year, due to the efforts of the organization, the academy was used by 65,000 users from all over Georgia. In addition, math teachers actively used the Khan Academy teaching process in the following cities: Gori, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Borjomi, Badiauri, Tokhliauri, Daba Zhinvali, Dusheti, Salkhino, Samegrelo, Sergieti, Samegrelo, Pasanauri, Dusheti.

A total of 375 pupils participated in the project. They "mastered" 11728 new subjects / skills during the semester ("Skills" - the name of a full-fledged subject study status at Khan Academy).

It is the teachers who play a major role in popularizing the Khan Academy and increasing access to quality education. Up to 3,000 teachers in Georgia use the Khan Academy platform. Liberty Bank and Educare Georgia representatives selected 5 successful teachers: Marina Kapanadze, Rustavi N7 Public School, Ketevan Tkeshelashvili, Tbilisi, UJ School, Shorena Aduashvili, Tbilisi – Millennium School, Ioseb Gogichaishvili, Tbilisi – Millenium School, Nino Lomsadze, Tbilisi – Classical Gymnasium.

Teachers were awarded the relevant diplomas and cash prizes. The teachers who involved the most students and whose students showed the greatest progress in mastering the skills were awarded.

"I am glad that our cooperation has taken place and today we have such a good result in terms of popularizing Khan Academy. Next year we plan to translate biology, physics and chemistry video lessons into Georgian, which will allow even more pupils to deepen their knowledge in science subjects. We also plan to introduce the practice of using Khan Academy in more schools. Once again, I want to thank Liberty Bank for the partnership, because Educare Georgia can only succeed with the efforts of partner donors and volunteers." - Noted the director of Educare Georgia, Mr. Giorgi Jibladze.

"Raising the level of education in the country remains one of the most important challenges. Therefore, I am glad that Liberty Bank promotes acquiring education in the country using modern technologies. I think the Khan Academy platform is one of the best ways to enhance the knowledge of schoolchildren,” - said Mr. Davit Verulashvili, Deputy Director of Liberty Bank.
